The Reptilian Tribes
There was a time where the future of the Dragons as a species was in peril. Icewings were experiencing climate degradation and strange beasts with a penchant for violence roamed the lands, attacking and sometimes killing any dragons they came across. It was in these bleak times when the Reptilians, distant relatives of the Dragon were discovered by Earthwings. As a species, they hid themselves from their larger cousins, for fear that their diminutive statue would identify them as a prey species. For millenia they operated in secret, just under the snouts of the dragons that they shared territory with. Although defensive at first, they eventually united under one common banner to fight a common foe, and sided with the Dragons.
Reptilians stand (on average) around seven feet tall, a third the size of a fully grown Earthwing. Certain breeds of Reptilian can grow to be much larger or smaller, depending on the tribe they come from. Many of their skills are inspired by the dragons the live around, as well as influenced by their own crafty resourcefulness. Reptilians all have similar looks, but defining features and colorations unique to each tribe, and a facial appearance that also appears to vary with every individual.
The ranks of Reptilian society (from lowest to highest):
Clutchling: Fresh from the egg, newborn reptilians are all born with milky white scales, but eventually take on the appropriate colors as they mature and enter adoloescence.
Youngling: The equivalent of the Dragon Trainee, Younglings usually enter training in a profession or craft once their colors start to show.
Shaper: Craftsmen and artisans, shapers are responsible for making the weapons, trinkets, and other hand-crafted items (Which can range from arrows to homes.). Although the lowliest job possible, they are respected for their endeavors.
Warrior: Fighters that defend the tribe from any threat, their tactics and equipment vary wildly from Tribe to Tribe.
Chirurgeons: Experts in the art of healing, healers are tasked with keeping the tribe healthy. Specialized treatment varies from Tribe to Tribe, and can vary from herbal medicines to exposure to volcanic heat for several hours.
Nest-Guard: Usually the best warrior in the tribe, he is tasked with being a right-hand man to the Matriarch/Patriarch and usually serves as a bodyguard. When not around the Matriarch/Patriarch, the Nest-Guard usually guards the nurseries.
Matrons: Pregnant females, they are given priority over other Reptilians and reside in the nursery until they lay their eggs.
Old Ones: Reptilians who have often lived for centuries, these Reptilians are second in importance only to the Matriarch/Patriarch. They provide the tribe with knowledge and advice.
The Matriarch/Patriarch: the leaders of the reptilian Tribes, they usually tend to be females, but male leaders are not unheard of. Female leaders are called Matriarchs, while male leaders are called Patriarchs.
The Tribes:

NightClaws:
The second smallest of all Reptilians, NightClaws stand five feet tall at most. They are distinguishable by their large, usually brightly colored crests, glassy eyes, and dark scale coloration, usually in shades of purple, blue, and black. They are renowned for their favored attack tactic, which consists of a lightning-quick ambush from all sides using blowguns loaded with poisonous darts. NightClaws have a noticeable resistance to toxins, and have the ability to turn themselves invisible for a minute.
EarthClaws:
Earthclaws are the most averagely sized Reptilians. They stand about six feet and a half tall at most, and are often foresty greens or all shades of brown in coloration. When it comes to getting by, their robustness is commendable. They employ the widest array of hunting and combat tactics, and are the most well-rounded.They are skilled fighters, and are gifted with incredible endurance, making them surprisingly difficult to injure, let alone kill. They have the largest population of all, which stretches all over Earthwing territory.
FlameClaws:
When it comes to turning an otherwise inhospitable landscape to your favor, none can beat the FlameClaws. FlameClaws stand the second tallest, towering in at an average of seven feet tall at least, and all have red or orange colored scales. FlameClaws are the most militaristic of the Reptilian Tribes, and have the only non-human professional army known. Their warriors are drilled, trained, and outfitted with weapons and armor that come from volcanic forges, all made and maintained by the single most concentrated population of shapers dedicated to metalworking. Flamescales have an immunity to any form of heat, and can breath puffs of ash into the faces of their enemies at best. They are also the only Reptilian tribe that produces their own steel, not needing to turn to Dragon vulcans for an otherwise complicated service. Their environment however, can only support a limited amount of individuals, and the Tribe never goes past a couple hundred members, while all other Tribes number in the thousands.
IceClaws
Iceclaws are the largest of all the Reptilians, with the average one standing at about eight and a half feet tall. The Tribe is split into traveling groups that live nomadic lives, traveling the frozen tundras in search of food. Because of this, their fighting style is based on blind savagery, and their weapons are more barbaric and makeshift than other Tribes, often made of wood, bone, and stone. They are experts in head-on battle, and in hunting large beasts like mammoth and bears. They have the most territory to themselves, but a population that barely scratches a thousand. They also have a notable immunity to cold.
SkyClaws
SkyClaws are the smallest of the Reptilians, the tallest members only being about four and a half feet tall. However, they make up for this by being able to perform aerial maneuvers and use their weapons proficiently in fly-by attacks. Fast-nerved by nature, SkyClaws are quick in every facet of life. The quicker something can get done, the better.

Re: The Reptilian Tribes
I would like to piont out that it wasn't just the EarthWings who discovered them. And they didn't live in secret for a millenia. Only 1 month or so. They should have been chased out out of there territory by the monsters (which you didn't mention) and came to our territory because where would they come from?Corrode wrote:There was a time where the future of the Dragons as a species was in peril.
