Learning Names and Remembering Faces
It was dark, but the sky itself was without a cloud to blemish it. There was a sort of rumbling noise in the distance, like thunder, but the scent of rain did not fill the nostrils of the grounded creatures. If one looked up, they would see a large dragon, his wings rising above his his body then dropping below it only to level out at the sides to carry him across a warm air current. From his perspective, Baldirak saw a tiny world that would surely crumble like rotted wood against even the slightest breeze if he dared to land upon it. His eyes scanned the earth ahead, searching every treetop, every mountain, every lake and stone for that which would tell him what he needed to know; that he had reached the EarthWing territory. Dipping his right wing slightly and raising his left, Baldirak turned his body to the right and began circling the area he'd already searched. He was certain he had seen it here, that miniscule sign that only an EarthWing could see. "Curse these old eyes," he muttered as he circled yet again.
"They couldn't see a-- Ah. there!" His slow and admittedly very bird-of-prey like circling had finally rewarded him. He spotted the entrance to the Lush Forest and made his way there, his wings rising and falling faster than before to get him there quicker. Leaning the front half of his body forward some and folding closed his wings halfway against his sides, the dragon made his descent. His feet not far from the ground, he leaned back and opened his wings to slow down. With an earth-shaking thud, Baldirak landed. He looked around as his wings folded against his back, his tail lashed behind him. His nostrils flared in accompaniment of a deep inhale and the closing of his eyes. His lungs expanded to their limit, filling with the rich scents of earth and wood and plant life. With a rumbling growl, he exhaled and lifted his eyelids before walking forward into the Forest. Almost instantly, with a level of excitement he hadn't felt in a long time, the Dragon began looking around for someone to introduce himself to.

(welcome to the site!)
Rylatha was padding around the entrance of the Lush Forest, still trying to get adapted to her ability to see. She was formally blind, but now that she was a semi-god, she was granted the gift of sight. She was walking about, wide-eyed at all the things she had never imagined. She never knew what green would actually look like!
She stopped walking when she spotted a green and brown drake. She tilted her head at him. She had never seen him before in her life (partially because she was blind for nearly her whole lifetime), and she was eager to meet new friends.
She bounded up to the big dragon. She gazed up at him with wide burnt-orange eyes.
"Hello, sir!" she greeted, purring. The goddess smiled up at him, currently in a jovial mood. "What's your name?"

Baldirak turned his head, looking for the source of the voice that filled his ears. And then he looked down, spotting the smaller dragoness that came bounding up so happily. He shared her good, for it had been awhile spoken with his kin. He laid down and lowered his head to the dragoness' eye level with his own pale blue eyes. "Hello, ma'am. My name is Baldirak. And yours?"

Rylatha couldn't help but grin once more.
"I'm Rylatha," she replied, twitching her tail. She dipped her head respectfully to Baldirak. "Welcome to the Tribe. You'll fit perfectly in around here!" She bounced up happily. "Tell me about yourself." She was purring a mile-a-minute.

He chuckled, watching Rylatha bounce around. "Hello, Rylatha. And thank you." His own head dipped in a bow to the dragoness before he contemplated her last words. His right foreleg lifted to his chest, his claws raking across his scales. "Well... What would you like to know?" he finally asked, as he found conversation easier if he were answering questions.

Rylatha stopped. She hadn't thought of that. She closed her eyes, thinking.
Then she spoke, saying, "Your hobbies!" She smiled again, returning to her happy mood.

Re: Learning Names and Remembering Faces
A low grumble left his throat as he thought and closed his eyes. His tail lashed back and forth a bit and his nostrils flared as he exhaled slowly. "Hobbies... Well, I love to fly." He chuckled after a moment as he opened his eyes again. "That's about all the hobbies I have." he chuckled.
In truth, Baldirak had more hobbies than that, but he was warily of those he didn't know well, and so often said as little as possible without seeming rude. He didn't want to seem rude, of course, especially to those who seemed quite nice. Smiling lightly, as he waited for another question, he looked around, taking in the beauty of the place he lay in. In his travels he had seen many a place that one might call beautiful, but for one reason or another, his new home seemed even more so. His smile widened more the longer he looked around. Sensing his mind slowly starting to wander from the conversation, he turned his pale gaze back to the small dragoness.

Re: Learning Names and Remembering Faces
"Rylatha, darling, I told you not to wander off during your training!" You have any idea how hard it is for me to find you in all this overgrown mess?" came a voice, sweet and loving, yet slightly agitated. Something rattled in the bushes, and from within the shade of the unnaturally natural giant, leafy trees of the Lush Forest, emerged the one and only queen of the EarthWings, Rektani Lozain of Earthil. She was the step mother of Rylatha, and had only recently acquired eggs. She had been training her daughter in law when she had suddenly vanished off into the bushes. As soon as Tani saw Baldirak, though, she froze, eying him. The flower petals around her neck quivered, seeming to glow as they pumped blooding quickly through them as she analyzed the new EarthWing.
She then stepped forward, smiling. "Hello there. Pleasure to meet you. Aren't you the new EarthWing I heard about? My name's Rektani Lozain, queen of the EarthWings, and this is my daughter in law."

Re: Learning Names and Remembering Faces
Baldirak's head turned to view the new dragoness that had appeared. Slowly, his pale eyes took in what he saw; the size of the Queen, the color of her scales and eyes. He listened to her voice. And then he lifted himself just slightly from where he lay, in a very low bow. His wings opened so the tips grazed the earth, his head lowered so his snout was parallel with his chest. And he held this position for quite a while, despite the great strain it placed on his legs to hold his weight in so low a crouch. Rather, at least to Baldirak, the longer he did this the more respect he showed.
Finally, with a sigh that suggested he'd perhaps been holding his breath, the Guardian's body relaxed and he lay down again. His head raised as his wings closed and he spoke to the Queen.
"As it is to meet you, Highness. I am Baldirak, your new Guardian. His gaze shifted momentarily back to Rylatha. "Yes, we've met already. I was just telling her about myself." he smiled.
