The Secrets of DAelorios Island (Open to all)
First topic message reminder :
DAelorios Island -- Located in the Valoras Sea at a distance from the mainland that the former EarthWing territory is from the NightWing territory. It has been forgotten by the tribes, only a myth now. It is said to have been the place where Dragons first appeared after the world's creation. Known as the ElderWings, these Dragons resembled in appearance all of the Dragons seen today. When overcrowding threatened them, they migrated to the mainland which was much larger. Overtime they would evolve into the seven species seen today and eventually form tribes. The ElderWings left the island deserted, nothing but simple prey animals remaining... Or so it was thought.
________________________________________________________________________
//As mentioned above, this is an island that as been lost to time. So maybe your character heard a myth about it from their tribe's Scholar who discovered some vague writing about it. Or maybe you saw Baldirak heading out across the ocean and decided to follow him. Whatever your reason to going to the island, once there, you'll eventually encounter an NPC ElderWing--played by yours truly. And then you'll be led to the ElderWing's city. For more info on the ElderWing's history, read The History of Daelorios Island.//
Baldirak had ventured to the northernmost edge of the old EarthWing territory. When this place still belonged to his tribe, he would come here to gaze at the ocean. He sat now doing that very thing, inhaling the wonderfully salty air as waves rolled and crashed against the coast. In his youth, Baldirak had traveled across Pyrria, seeing as much as he could. He'd visited most of the small islands in the Crystal Sea and seen some islands elsewhere that he hadn't visited. One such island was just in front of him, though a good distance away. At the moment, Baldirak had absolutely nothing to do; his fellow EarthWings didn't require his services. So why couldn't visit that island for a little while? The more he sat there thinking about it, the more tempting it seemed. Opening his wings as he stood, Baldirak stepped off the cliff into a short dive before ascending to the sky. He smiled lightly as the cool ocean breeze hit him and the sun warmed his back. It was such a pleasant day. For about ten minutes, there was nothing to gaze upon but the ocean and the sky, neither of which had anything interesting in them. There were a few clouds dotting the robin egg blue sky. Some were thin wispy things that might fade to non-existence if the winds suddenly decided to change direction. Others were thick fluffy mounds of rabbit fur that cast shadows on the ground and covered the sun. But soon the EarthWing was able to see the coast of the island on the horizon. The coast was composed of rocks rather than sand, yet was still nice to look at. From his place in the sky, Baldirak could see that the island was covered in trees, the only noticeable clearing being a large lake at the center. But rather than going there, Baldirak landed on the rocky shore. He would work his way to the center of the island.

Torghaith listened to the speech. He felt moderate inconvenience when he was listed by name. He did not like being the center of attention. That tended to draw trouble and bother more often than not...
Way to put me in the middle...
He then looked back at Odaer and asked What is this "Feast of Salmon" about anyway? i mean besides eating salmon.

Crystal blushed when Siris pointed her out, looking down slightly. Once Siris was done talking, she grabbed two salmon. She spit one in half and put the half in her satchel, then put the other half back. She took a bite out of one of the salmon and hissed under her breath. She flew up to a nearby torch and held the salmon over it. After a matter of seconds, the salmon was cooked, so Crystal sat back down and ate it slowly, enjoying it all as slowly as she could. She looked over at Torg. "You werent the only one put in the middle... And if your as shy as me, its worse, Heh." She said quiely, covering her mouth, then swallowing.

Odaer grabbed six salmon and looked at Torg. "Some prey, like salmon, are hard to come by some years. They migrate, you see, and don't always return the next year. A shortage of any one of our prey means there won't be enough to go around if something happens, say a prey illness. So these feasts are a celebration, a symbol of survival. And I'm sure Siris won't mind me apologizing for him. It's just been so long since any of you mainlanders have come here. Plus, some of those psychically gifted already know your names, so he might as well have drew some attention to ya."
Renaldine and Ullie found Crystal. Ullie chuckled, having seen Crystal cooking her salmon. "I don't like the taste of raw meat either. You should see the fights that break out sometimes, it's hilarious. I think Siris might let me go to the mainland with you, and Renaldine wants to go, too."

(He should have heard it, yes.)
"R- Really? Umm.... Oh! I uhh... Found this, Ullie." Crystal pulled out the statue, handing it to her. "You should.. Have it." Crystal's cheeks gave of a little more of a pinkish color. She grabbed her satchel and began to dig through it, and found something that made her gasp. She gave a small smile, and closed the satchel. It looked as if she had forgotten what she needed.

Ullie smiled as she looked at the statue. "Wow, this is awesome, thanks, Crystal." She could see that Crystal wasn't being truthful, but she decided not to say anything. Renaldine decided to change the subject. "I can't wait to see and you live. My brother is gonna be so jealous. Oops... I should probably ask my mom if it's okay for me to go."

(How did i answer the question wrongly? I said he should have heard me. She was not talking to herself, she was talking to him. Do you understand yet?)
"N- No! Ullie, when i said i wanted you to come, i didnt really mean it!! If you came, everyone would flip and bug you non stop and be an absolute burden! You'd just be surrounded with questions and stuff!!" Crystal yelped, cowering slightly.

((I swear, i didn't see that part yesterday... I apologize... My mental abilities tend to suffer at that time of the night))
So, this is basically a celebration that you got salmon. I was expecting something more fancy. He then turned to Crystal. That, however is not necesserily a bad thing. By everyone asking her what they do not know, she can gauge what they do know and gain information that she seeks more easily.

The Scroll Keeper huffed at Torg's response. But of course he wouldn't understand just how important this was to an ElderWing. Shrugging, he moved away to find find the Scribe. Meanwhile, Ao had cleverly sneaked into Torghaith's bag and was rummaging through it. He found the sun dial and poked his head out to inspect it in the light. And then he climbed out to sit a the EarthWing's paws, blinking up at him. "Are you an Star Traveler? Uh, the word you'd use is... Explorer, I think."
Ullie and Renaldine looked at each other, then back at Crystal. Renaldine answered, "We wouldn't mind a lot of questions or anything like that. We'd be new to your land, after all. Just like you are, here. And it'll be fun! Besides, we showed you our home. Now you have to return the favor." She smiled and placed her paw on Crystal's shoulder.

((Funny thing... I watched an anime not so long ago where a side character was called Ao, and had cat ears because japan. Now i can't help but imagine Ao as a cat-dragon who keeps crawling into boxes(or in this case bags) and sits in the most inconvenient places(ones limbs, in this case)))
Waitwhat?! How did you even get in there?! Odaer, are all the hatchlings here so keen on rummaging through others' bags? He sighed to himself. But, to answer your question, no. Although I did try going to the stars once, but it ended in utter failure. Or more accurately, nothing. I could not even set out. Why, do you perhaps know someone who can walk, or fly, among the stars...?

(See i like how hatchlings are gonig through Torg's bag, when i believe there would be somethings way more intersting in Crystals. Also, by the way Stella, try to make your posts longer. Your not giving your fellow RPers much to work with here.)
Crystal giggled at Ao. "As long as you guys are ok with it, i guess.." She sighed. She reached in her bag and and pulled out a potion, drinking it. "Ahh.. Thats better." She said, her tail swaying from side to side like one of those clock thingies.

((I judge thee! *pointed at Crystal dramatically*))
Ullie tilted her head as Crystal removed a potion from her bag and drank it. "What's that?" (Ahem.. I may have judged prematurely... I am sorry. >.>)
Ao handed the sundial back to Torg. "No. But I wasn't talking about the sky. I meant.. The world. You know, like an adventurer. That's what I want to be. Ao, the fearless adventurer!" he replied with a dramatic pose at the end.
Durval finally made it to the palace. And he made sure everyone knew. "Ha-ha! Lads, look sharp and lasses quiet yer babes. Why, you ask? Because Durval has arrived! Now, now, don't make a fuss. Just go on about yer business and point me to the salmon I know you set aside for me." At that point, some had taken a salmon or two and hurled them at the GateKeeper. Durval and others laughed and then went on with their conversations. A group of Hatchlings ran over to him, seemingly intent on keeping him from the food.

"Its what i would call a.. 'A Cheering-Up' potion, to put it one way, but its also an 'Energy' potion." She smiled. "I usually use these when im tired but cant sleep, or if i cant get my mind off something. I have lots of potions." She said, opening her satchel and grabbing a rope like object, and when pulling it up, it made many 'Clink' and 'Clang' noises. The ropes held five or six bottles of potions. After Ullie and Renaldine had a good look at them, she set them back in. She looked over at Durval and grabbed another salmon, this time eating it raw. She looked over at Ullie who was glaring at her (Sorry for character taking over, i just wanna add this in). "What? I dont feel like going to that torch again." She shrugged, covering her maw as she swallowed.

Re: The Secrets of DAelorios Island (Open to all)
Putting the dial away into its bag There is another word for fearless, you know: fool. Fear is useful. Its an instinct to warn you that you are in danger. The one who manages to muster the courage to walk into the danger ignoring that instinct to run is brave, and a fool. But the ones who acknowledge that the fear is there, and prepared to face whatever it is trying to warn you about you still walk forward, now that's an adventurer. If you want a long career, you'd better change your title to Ao, the Cautiously Brave Adventurer. Might not sound as flashy, but it might just save your neck one day.
And so spoke Torghaith, the Wingless, mightiest of adventurers among all dragonkind... said the absolutely objective and truthful narrator inside Torg's head.

Re: The Secrets of DAelorios Island (Open to all)
The Hatchling blinked. The EarthWing's answer wasn't what he expected. He had hoped for some encouragement, not a lecture. But he listened politely and tried his best not to give in to the temptation to wander off. When Torg finished, Ao stood and bowed his head. "Thank you, Seer Torghaith, for a valuable lesson. "
Ullie was especially interested in the potions. " Wow, you made all those? Can you teach me? I've been thinking about becoming a Healil-- a Healer's Apprentice. And I think Laia would like to learn some things about your Healers."

It was now Torghaith's turn to blink in surprise, then he proceeded to produce a small chuckle. Seer, eh? Now that is something i have never been accused of before. He put some salmon in front of Ao Well then, lesson two, my young apprentice! Always try to keep yourself sated. Who knows when the next chance to eat will come along while out in the wilds? Eat while you can. With that, he took a few bites too.

Re: The Secrets of DAelorios Island (Open to all)
Ullie and Renaldine smiled. Renaldine excused herself to go find her mother and tell her the news. Ullie muttered a spell to conjure a bag of he r own. It had a few herbs and blank scrolls. "The herbs are an offering and I want to make make a revised account of the tribes for our archive," she explained.
Ao watched as he grabbed a fish and ate it. He grabbed some fish himself as he continued to listen. "Seer is our word for teacher. What else should an adventurer do? Do you have any stories from your adventures?"
Durval had gathered a pile--a small one, of course--of salmon and some other meats. He sat eating while telling a group of friends a story. "...So I told Otae, 'If you manage to become a Scribeil, I'll steal the boar. Ha-ha, and wouldn't you know it, he did it. The most rebellious Hatchling ever! So I had to steal the boar that night..."

Re: The Secrets of DAelorios Island (Open to all)
((Wall-o-Text incoming! Brace for impact!))
Hm.... a story....? Lets see... There was this time, at the beginning of my illustrious career... It was not a planned adventure by any means. It all started when I went to sleep in my lair one night. But when i woke up I was no longer there. I was in some kind of forest... the creepy kind. Rotting trees everywhere, swampy spots ready to drag you down, that kind of stuff. Of course, i was rather surprised, and not just a bit startled. I started wandering around, trying to figure out where i was or how i got there, but couldn't reach any satisfying answer. And then eventually night fell. I didn't really have my gear with me. Obviously, i don't expect to get into this kind of situation overnight. So throughout the night, i did not dare sleep for fear of being attacked by whoever brought me there. Obviously someone brought me there. I didn't go there by myself while sleeping, surely. And here is where it gets kinda scary... All night, i felt as if i was being watched. At first i assumed it was whoever brought me there, but then i started seeing...things. Shadows seemingly coming to life, semi-transparent forms walking through trees and rocks every now and then. But the moment i actually tried to focus on them, they vanished. Most of the night passed like that, with me getting more and more....disturbed. At one point, i found a stone. It was a strange one, really. It seemed to glow a bit in the dark, and it was slightly warm to the touch. I ended up "playing" with it, trying to figure out what made it do those things, in an effort to distract myself from all the things that were going on all around. At some point, I don't remember when, i must have fallen asleep though, because the next thing i remember is waking up again...In front of my lair. After the initial confusion and bewilderment, I came to the conclusion that it must have been a dream. Obviously, what else could it be? I must have walked out while asleep and dreamed up all that stuff, maybe even half awaking and seeing the dark forest around me. I was satisfied with that explanation and ready to ~let it go~, but then it got even weirder... I looked down, and on the ground i saw... At this point he reaches into one of his bags and pulls out something, then puts it on the table. It is the rock he talked of. ....this. Now, i know the area around my lair very well, and i am certain that there is nothing like this there... So... where did it come from...? Or more like, where did i go...? And were the things i saw real...? To this day, i wonder...
Finishing up the story, he looked around to see the effects on peoples' faces.

Re: The Secrets of DAelorios Island (Open to all)
Ao, along with a group of other ElderWings, hung on Torghaith's every word. They listened with excitement and stared at the rock he showed them with wonder. When his tale concluded, the group nodded and murmured their liking. Someone asked for another story and everyone agreed, a few left to grab a snack then hurried back.

((well.... That story took me quite a while to come up with... I'm not all that creative, and i don't feel like searching through the possibly infinite Library of Babel to find another one. Can we just say that he told another story, or does that not work on this site? Say... A fun story with a hunting fumble meybe?))

((Lol, sure. You didn't have to tell a whole story. You could just throw in a line or two like I did with Durval.))
