A Gathering of EarthWings (Feast)
First topic message reminder :
The Earth King sat in the main chamber of the Haven, watching as his people shuffled about joyously in preparation for the feast. It had been far too long since the EarthWings celebrated anything. So Baldirak declared that today the tribe would have a feast to celebrate their success over the years, the reign of his father, and the first few months of his own. He looked down to see a group of Hatchlings racing past with a freshly killed deer on their backs. Most likely they were taking it to the tables on the surface. Yes, Baldirak had said this feast would take place on the surface. Of course, one couldn't venture past a particular group of trees which served as a landmark for the borders of the SeaWing and FireWing territories. But at least everyone could enjoy some sun and fresh air for a change. Standing, the monarch made his way down a tunnel to a cave which led outside. Several tables were set up near a lake, all already filled with a variety of meat. Rock pillars with vines wrapped around them stood around the area to serve as perches for those who wished to eat in peace. There was an area for younger Hatchlings to play and a scavenger hunt had been put together for the older ones and anyone else who wanted to join in. Baldirak inhaled deeply as a breeze went passed, the scent of trees and meat wafting to his nostrils. He blinked as the sun filled his eyes for a moment. He wasn't at all worried, as some were, that the FireWings or SeaWings might discover them here. Even if they did, all evidence of the cave and the tunnel eading to the system underground was completely hidden. And besides, they were in neutral terrtiory. Baldirak limped over to one of the tables to sit and wait for his tribe to join him. Strangely, his leg didn't seem to be bothering him much today. But perhaps that was all in his mind. After all, today was meant to be a relaxing, fun day.

Re: A Gathering of EarthWings (Feast)
Rhune slightly tilted his head as the hatchling liked his snout. He couldn't help but let a smile at the sight of such an innocent hatchling. At least this one wouldn't have to get through all what he has been through himself... A strange feeling invaded his heart at that thought. He was looking at an innocent hatchling that would grow up surrounded by all the love it needs, instead of the harsh environment he grew up with. An innocent hatchling that would be able to keep its innocence and not having it stripped from them. This is how the world should be. And right now, Rhune realized he was watching what every mother and every father that lived captive in that cursed dungeon ever wished for. This idea triggered an exceptionally strong feeling that brought him to shed a few tears of happiness.
Rhune tried his best to hide those tears. Not because someone could think he was weak or anything, just because he didn't want that hatchling to see them and wonder if something was wrong. He slightly raised his head, looking down as the little dragon nodded and nudged him toward the central table.
"Oh, are you telling me you want something to eat ?" he asked the hatchling, slowly walking toward the table, making sure she could follow him.

Re: A Gathering of EarthWings (Feast)
Rock saw Stellarus and went over to her when he finished his conversation. "Hey, how are you? Are you enjoying yourself?"
______________________________________________________________
Vilkas decided that it was now time to get Torghaith to play, so he splashed the EarthWing with water then ran off, giggling. He went over to o e of the perches and hid behind it, though his tail stuck out.
_______________________________________________________________
Pelia followed along as Rhune went over to the table. When she got close enough, she clambered up her father's back and onto the table. She grabbed a piece of meat--one big enough for her to grab, anyway, and dropped it on the ground at Rhune's paws. And then she slid down Rock's back, giggling as she did so, then wandered over to Rhune again. She nudged the piece of meat, which was incredibly small, closer to her new friend.
______________________________________________________________
Baldirak was watching everyone with a smile... Until he saw the rocket-shaped crackler coming toward them. His whip-like tail shot ahead of the thing, to a point in the air it was likely to end up. Just as it went past that point, his tail coiled around the end of it. Baldirak brought the thing to his maw and launched a glob of saliva at the flame, just in time to keep it from going off. As he set it on the ground, his pale gaze turned to Maxeylius. "Perhaps that's enough of cracklers for today, hm?"

Re: A Gathering of EarthWings (Feast)
Sigh... And here i was, making a great discovery, and thinking i found a kindred spirit... Well then, so be it, my traitorous assistant... Let the hunt, begin!
He proceeded to take a chunk of meat from what has already been prepared for the feast, and tie it to the end of a thin rope that he got from his bag. He then threw the rope in the direction of Vilkas so that it snagged on (ceiling beams? tree branch? stalagmite? honestly, i have no idea where we are...) and it started dangling a bit in front of his position, swaying back and forth in a gentle breeze. He then tied the rope and went inconspicuously the other way and soon disappeared from Vilkas' sight.

((Didn't you read the first post? We're outside.))
Vilkas watched as a piece of meat landed on the ground in front of him. He noticed the piece of rope tied to it and smiled. He opened his maw and blew a small ball of fire at the meat, burning the rope off it. And then he gobbled it up before looking around for Torg. Where did he go..?

((IIRC, it only said that we are in someplace called "Haven"))
Torghaith was about to initiate phase two of the plan when he saw Vilkas make a move on the bait. His thoughts were a confused mixture of "this will be easier than i thought", "surely he can't fall for this obvious a trap", and "maybe this is part of *his* trap...?". A moment later Vilkas actually moved out from his hiding spot and Torghaith decided to scrap the plan and just go for a frontal assault...from behind...the sneaky kind...on second thought, this strategy fits rather few of the criteria of a frontal assault...
As Vilkas finished gobbling up the meat and started looking for Torghaith, the dragon equivalent of "boo!" sounded a few meters behind him... Actually, on second thought thats probably called a roar.

((To start. I did say it would take place on the surface.))
Vilkas jumped in surprise as he heard a roar behind him and he curled info a ball. His spikey scales stuck out to protect him, and for a minute or two, the Hatchling stayed still. And then it occurred to him that the scary roar had come from. Torg. Of course it had, who else would sneak up on the semi-god? Well... his sister might. But he was certain it was Torg. Slowly, he uncurled himself and sat up, looking over his shoulder. "Oh, hi, Torg! What are you doing here?" he asked innocently.

Kelarth sat in his parallel world, watching the EarthWings enjoy their little feast. He also watched the other tribes, engaged in their various activities. The god even watched the Rogues. And of course he watched his fellow immortals and the semi-gods. Yes, he watched them all in silence and silent judgement. His gaze flickered occasionally to his Scale. It had not moved for ages, it seemed, perfectly balanced. Now, Kelarth was happy to see the balance, but he was two personalities in one body, after all. The half of him which desired chaos yearned to cause some destruction on Pyrria or turmoil amongst the tribes. And his calmer side wanted there to be even more peace, perhaps grace the tribes with an over-abundance of good fortune. It was long time he did one of those things, he thought. But alas, he restrained himself from doing so. Â Kelarth sighed. Perhaps he could at least have a little fun with this feast the EarthWings were having... Just which direction he would take it, good fortune or bad, he had yet to decide.

Oh, you know, this and that... Some pesky hatchling challanged me of all people... Can you imagine how...unwise young ones are these days...? Not to mention that he then proceeded to fall for a trap so simple, i had to scrap my original plan because i dont expect even a deer to fall for that... Truly, most unwise indeed... You did not happen to see him anywhere around by any chance, did you...?

Rhune tilted his head as he saw the hatchling climbing up on someone's back to get him a piece of meat. Judging by how the other dragon didn't comment on an hatchling climbing him up, it might be a member of her family or something like this. The green dragon accepted the "offering" with a nod, warmly smiling at the hatchling.
"Oh, that's for me ? Thank you." he said, taking the small piece of meat.
It was small enough for him to eat it in one piece, but it tasted deliciously good. A sweet reminder he was near some fine cooked meat that he couldn't wait to taste. However he did wait a bit. Before that, he found another small piece and nudged it toward the hatchling.

Vilkas shook his head and smiled innocently."Nope, haven't seen him! I'll let you know if I do, though." The Hatchling slinked away, running off when he was out of sight, and made his way behind Torg. He decided to shadow the Dragon's movements, staying out of sight and wait for the perfect moment to launch his own surprise attack.

Pelia smiled, tail swaying, and ate the small piece of meat. Then she batted at Rhune's face with a tiny paw before turning and running off. She got a few feet away, stopping and hiding behind a rock that was just big enough to hide her head. The rest of her stuck out, yet the Hatchling was completely convinced she was invisible.

Rock smiled back, "I'm good. It's nice to finally have this feast, isn't it?" He grabbed a deer leg and began eating. "This is my youngest daughter's first feast," he pointed to Pelia, "Looks like she's having fun. So what are you training to be? You are a Trainee, right?"

After Vilkas left, Torghaith started walking around a bit, getting a better look at the place and people, sneaking a quick bite here and there. After a while, he had the distinct feeling that someone was watching him. He decided upon one of his usual hunting techniques, though a somewhat less refined version, to draw out his pursuer into a trap of his own...
Said plan had three stages. One, find an adequate spot. Finding said spot, he moved on to stage two: lie down in a somewhat comfortable position, and be still as a statue. And now, he but needed to bide his time before starting stage three.
((unless something else involving him happens(talks, the feast, end of feast, etc) he will stay like that indefinitely. ))

(im joining now)
Cradore was sick of staying underground. Yes that was what he was born to do, but it gets boring after a while of doing nothing but be underground. So when he heard that Baldirak was holding a feast, Cradore rushed to it. He was also a friend of Baldirak. Before Baldirak became king. He eventually found the feast and hid away from the others. He did not want to show himself to the others. Of course being as big as he was that was extremely hard, so people were bound to see him, 90% of the time.
(sorry for short post.)

Baldirak spoofed Cradore, chuckling as the taller dragon tried to hide. He stood and limped over to his friend."Surely you didn't think you'd succeed in hiding? It's nice to see you above ground for once, Cradore." The King sat, curling his tail around his paws. His nostrils flared as a breeze went by, carrying the scents of meat throughout the area.

Vilkas watched as Torg just laid there. He slipped over to Max, looking at all the helmets he'd made. He smiled, choosing one that was made with cloth. He put it on and gave Max a fish, then went back to Torg. Giggling, he lowered his head and charged at Torg.

Re: A Gathering of EarthWings (Feast)
As Torghaith was observing this motionlessly, he quickly realised that his original plan was quickly becoming useless and he would have to come up with a new one. As he was trying to explore more and more possible ways to win this, realisation suddenly hit him just as Vilkas was beginning his charge... He was 4-5 times larger than the hatchling... And he was still in a position he usually strikes from at prey.... He briefly considered sidestepping the charge and letting Vilkas hit some conveniently placed object afterwards, but that would have been so anticlimatic...
At that point, the young warrior was nearly in striking distance. Torghaith tensed his muscles, and prepared to go from fully a motionless state into a lightning fast strike with jaws open wide and teeth ready to grab the prey before it could even react... Not with the intention of instantly killing said "prey" this time, of course, but getting a bit saliva-y as he charges into his mouth shouldn't hurt too much... hopefully... And as Vilkas entered his reach, so he did...

Rhune was about to get something to eat when the hatchling bat his muzzle and went hiding behind a rock. He couldn't help but smile at how cute it was to see her "hiding" like this, her tail waddling in the air. He briefly wondered if he should pretend he couldn't find her or if he would bust her. In any case, it seemed like his own meal would wait...
The green dragon slowly walked toward the rock the hatchling was hiding behind, seemingly looking as if he was searching her. Slowly but steadily he got closer from the rock until he reached it and bent his neck over, looking at the hatchling from above.
"Ha ha ! Found you !" he exclaimed.

Re: A Gathering of EarthWings (Feast)
Peila had put her paws over her eyes as she hid. Her tail, however, had no interest in hiding; it swayed back and forth, in the air and on the ground. The little Hatchling thought of how she would surprise Rhune by jumping out from behind the rock. But suddenly, she heard his voice above her. A squeaky sound left her maw as she lifted her head and somehow ended up tumbling backwards. Her paws flailed about in the air as she tried rolling over. When she finally did, she leapt at Rhune's snout in retaliation and clung to it... only to slid right off and end up on her back once more. Well, she might not make a good Guardian, but at least she was good at hiding. So good, in fact, that her prey had no idea she was there until they were about to step on her.

Rock smiled and nodded. "Yes, of course he will. And that's quite alright. You know, I didn't always know what I was going to be. At first, I was going to be a Healer."

Vilkas saw that Torg had lowered his head and opened his maw. But the Hatchling wasn't worried, because he had already planned something. Even before he came into range of Torghaith's maw, Vilkas began changing. He became bipedal, his wings and spikey scales disappeared. Two large, downward curved horns framed his face and a row of thin spikes went down his back. His skin became grey and aglow with embers. Thin whisps of flame licked at his nostrils when he opened his maw. Now he was in his beast form. This change, while not instantaneous, was fairly quick... It was completed by the time he came into range of Torg. He reached forward with his left-hand to pick up the now-smaller EarthWing.

Rhune giggled as the hatchling got so surprised she fell backwards, squirming to get up. He was about to help her as she suddenly pounced on his muzzle but failed to get a grip, falling once again on her back. This time he gently helped her getting back on her feet before raising his head again, looking back at the table. The other dragons were helping themselves on the meat, and if he didn't find something quick there would be none left for him !
"Quite the huntress we have there, uh ? What about some meat ?" he asked, trying to get her attention to the same thing as himself.
