When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
OOC: This thread is backdated to 3/21/2016
I hope to specifically see AuSurath, Umbra, Khusavir, Baldirak, Rhune, and maybe whatever other earthwings are around pop into this. Also remember Umbra is the first to hatch (or should be) Khu should be second, and I'll post Prasi after everyone else has gone.
IC:
Rii had again found herself just laying there at the edge of her nest looking over the eggs and her little nightwing child Au. She had many stretched pieces of leather from the stomachs of various beasts now drying on the walls of her den. These projects she worked on from time to time whenever Rii wasn't busy. However she had become increasingly busy since the eggs had been laid.
Soft light filtered into the small den from the haven hallway outside. The light reflected nicely off of the various rocks and minerals scattered about in Rii's den. She had many kinds of rocks and fossils all neatly organized around the nest, at the edges of the den, and sitting within crevices carved out of the walls. One crevice held Mairii's skull in it, and as usual the bone of the dragon hatchling was staring downwards with a full view of the room and its occupants.
Rii herself was half curled up at the edge of the nest tinkering with a new toy for Au and the children she hoped might hatch from the three eggs. Au already had many wooden, clay, and stone toys all carved from Rii herself. For instance, one such toy, a big round ball made out of wood, was in the corner of the room by the entrance way of the den. Other toys including the figures of animals, and dragons Rii had seen throughout her life. Right now she was carving a little reptilian shaped figure from a piece of smooth limestone. She figured it looked a bit like Pyrrhus, but Rii was having a terrible time carving the guys legs out of the stone.
It was when she looked up to check on what Au was doing when Rii spots a crack in the first egg. The small purple egg, smaller than both of it's younger siblings, had a crack from the top to the middle that looked a bit like a lightning bolt. Rii froze in panic not sure what to do now. All she could do was sit and watch.

Re: When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
Rhune was humming for himself as his paw brushed against the wet clay. The green dragon was working on his potteries once again, and this time he got more ambitious than usual. And this was actually the first time he felt so motivated on something, apart from his flying lessons. Rhune had gotten up earlier than he was used to, his head full of ideas for his newest craft : a bowl. And at the same time, he was a bit nervous. Because well, this bowl wouldn't be for himself. It would be for Rii.
When Rhune had broken one of her jars and offered her a replacement, the dragoness had seemed pretty happy with what Rhune had crafted. So Rhune figured another craft would be a perfect gift for her. He wanted to thank her for all the hard work she had put on to help him recover, and as such he wanted that gift worthy of it.
And for that, Rhune had the perfect design in mind. The bowl would be like the ones she was using herself, fairly large and not so deep - so that it would be half a bowl, half a plate. This kind of bowl was perfect for cooked meals. He would give it a blue coloration with hints of green within, just like her scales. Rhune had managed to gather the pigments to achieve this hue, and he had made the test, the result was perfect. And then, the jewels. Rhune knew Rii loved those, and he had made his aim to find the most beautiful ones he could gather. They maybe wouldn't be rare, Rhune couldn't make some extensive mining or trade anything expensive to get some rare jewels. But he had found some beautiful ones. Some had the same tint as Rii's scales, but Rhune feared they wouldn't stand so much with the pigments he would put. That was where his luck shined. He had managed to find a really big one, almost as big as his own paw. Apparently no one really wanted those, and so Rhune managed to have it in exchange of some menial work - which proved easy for him, as he had done way harder back then among the humans. Rhune had carefully worked the big gem, and sliced a big chunk out of it. And this would make the base of the bowl. The gem being semi-transparent, the light would be able to shine through the base of the bowl. This would be the perfect addition to his bowl.
And so Rhune began his work. Creating the form around the jewel he had crafted proved more difficult than the expected, but he still managed to do so smoothly. Once he was satisfied with the base, the green dragon inserted some other smaller chunks from the gem and put the craft to cook so the clay would dry. Up to now, everything was perfect. Once the clay began to dry, Rhune applied the pigments, mixing the blues and greens so it wouldn't quite make a uniform color, but more a whole set of varied hues, just like what her scales would give when under different lights. Another trip to the furnaces, and his work was done. Rhune admired the result, feeling proud of himself. This was by far his best craft.
All too excited to show this to Rii, the green dragon headed toward the healer's den. Once he reached Rii's place, he - like usually - poked his head inside.
"Hello Rii, can I come in ?" he asked. His voice was more excited than usual, and also especially joyful. He couldn't wait for her to see his work !

Rii had been spoiling him with toys recently, and he loved it! His favorite toy so far was the wood that was circular, and when you bumped it, it kept rolling away from you! It was so much fun trying to get the ball when it started moving, never seeming to stop. It even hit walls and other things, yet still kept going! This was by far his favorite toy for the next 5 minutes before his mind wandered. As the ball rolled to near the entrance, he heard a dragon, and turned tail and fled to Rii. "Stwanger dwanger! Stwanger dwanger!" he called out as he pretty much bolted into one of Rii's flanks, before peeping his head out of the fuzzy blue mommy while keeping his other limbs safely tucked under Rii.

((Aww, Au reminds me of a puppy <3))
The Earth King was less than normal today. Severe pain in his leg had left him unable to sleep the night before and herbs just didn't seem to help like they usually did. Rather than taking another day off and leaving the going on of the Haven to Cradore and his Advisors, Baldirak went on as usual, but in a very bad mood. He tried his best not to take it out on his fellow EarthWings... easier said than done at least twice already.
Now he headed to Rii's den because he'd calculated that her eggs would hatch some time this week and he needed to know their names and genders. In an effort to reduce his pain, he flew through the tunnels instead of walking. Reaching the Healer's den, he spotted Rhune standing outside and landed behind him. "Good--Hello, Rhune. How are you today?" Baldirak decided that 'good' wasn't a word he was capable of uttering today, even if he wasn't using it in reference to himself. "Is Rii within? I've a question concerning her offspring."

Re: When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
Rii didn't even notice Rhune or hear his cheerful voice as she stared at the first egg in wonder. It wasn't moving though, and she wondered just how long it would take to hatch out all the way. It wasn't until the smell of Rhune hit her flickering forked tongue that Rii looked up and saw him at the entrance of her den. She waved him in too distracted by the egg to even notice the bowl in his clutches. Come in come in! and Au it's not a stranger. You know Rhune remember? We both massaged him, and he's always coming to visit. Rii patted the hatchling awkwardly since he was underneath her then kept gazing at the first egg.
Re: When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
Inside of one of the eggs was a little dragon. It was warm and dark, but he was starting to get squished. His limbs started to get cramped, he needed a bigger space. Pushing against the wall keeping him in he used all on his might, even using his snout to try and break it. The egg wobbled as he did so, but he continued to try and break it.
Finally feeling it weaken he pushed, a rush of cold air pushing on him as he fell to the ground. He let out a little but fierce 'roar,' unsure of what to do now. He was cold, and hungry, and scared. Trying to call out to his momma he started to cry or do anything to get attention. The little hatchling then tried to crawl around, coming out of his egg and onto the cold, hard, ground.

Re: When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
Rhune turned his head as Baldirak arrived and spoke to him. He unconsciously tried to hide the bowl he was carrying, as he wanted Rii to be the first one to see it.
"Oh, hello Baldirak. Yes she is in, I was waiting for..." he began.
The green dragon got interrupted in his sentence as Rii called him to come over. It was weird it took her so much time to actually answer... Forgetting about Baldirak, Rhune entered the den and was a bit worry to see Rii was gazing at one of her eggs. Did something happen? The green dragon walked toward her and sat, his bowl still hidden behind his wing.
"Rii? Is something the matter? What are you..."
As he got closer, Rhune saw what Rii was looking at and his heart missed a beat. The shell was cracked. The egg was soon to hatch! He didn't have the time to talk that a small crack sound was made. Rhune only could watch, amazed, as one of the two other eggs cracked open. A small hatchling emerged from it, and started to cry. Rhune had just witnessed the birth of an hatchling. He started to feel full of emotion until he finally snapped back to reality.
"You... I... I'm going to bring food! And water! Just... Just wait a bit!" he suddenly exclaimed.
Rhune quickly set his own bowl near where he was, abandoning it as he rushed to take one of Rii's bowls and ran out of the den. Withing a minute he was back with some meat and another bowl of water, which he quickly gave to Rii.
"There... Sorry for being so long!" he apologized before keeping a small distance from her and the hatchlings.
Apparently Rhune didn't realize that far from having taken long, his trip could have set a record of speed inside the Haven. He watched as Rii would take care of her offspring, having totally forgotten about his gift.

Baldirak was hardly pleased that Rhune rushed off without finishing. But he had more important things to tend to, so he went inside the den. The first thing Baldirak noticed was a Hatchling; the next was Rhune nearly running into him as he rushed out of the den with a bowl. With a somewhat irritated growl, he turned his attention to Rii. "Hello, Rii. What will be naming your little ones?"

Re: When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
(You know what? Fudge it.. For the purposes of timeline stoof Ima just say that the first born is actually the first egg laid instead of the first hatched.)
Rii Just sat and watched as the larger egg in the middle began cracking and moving. The first little purple egg was still now, despite the crack in the top of it. Rii's head turned to look at the egg in the center as it shuddered. She heard Rhune's concerned words and let her gaze flick up to grace his own crystal-like eyes.
The eggs... Was all she said before looking back down to the two hatching eggs. Her eyes looked over the third egg, a much darker specimen, but also rather oval and large compared to the other two. It was neither moving nor cracked, and it seemed that it would not hatch today.
Her attention went back to the second egg in the middle as loud cracking noises echoed from it. Then a hatchling plopped down onto the ground while its egg shards crumbled under its weight. Rii didn't realize that she was holding her breath until a deep sigh rushed past her muzzle. She jumped as Rhune began talking and rushed off. Her eyes lingered on his dust trail as he headed of into the haven searching for food and water. Then her gaze traveled to Au who was under her armpit. She wondered what Au would think of having new play mates around. Though she refrained form telling Au up until now about what the eggs were really. Besides, she had to name the new hatchlings anyway. Now though she wondered how to begin explaining the situation to him. Then Baldi reminded her of with his question. She glanced up at the entrance where Baldirak was watching. Then back down at the little newborn hatchling. Rii sniffed at Khu her eyes taking in the full beauty of the little creature at her belly. He was a strange grayish blue hue overall, with little tiny horns atop his head. Little ears folded to the sides of his head caught her attention. The she slowly but surely lowered her muzzle and nuzzled the tiny baby. He was only about five foot long it seemed, and to her surprise he had her fur! She hummed in content unsure of how to answer her king.
You can come in too if you want my king. Rii offered while staring at all of the cuteness that was Khu. She couldn't even think of a name right this moment. Rii was still processing the fact that she now had two hatchlings to mother and care for. Though Au was older than the other.
...and I have no idea how to even start figuring out names... Though this one smells like a little boy. So boy names.. hmm.. Rii licked at Khu trying to get the last of the egg pieces off of him and admiring his pretty silver eyes. Silver was too plain of a name though. She wanted something noble sounding but still unique.

Re: When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
Rhune was panting as he broke a record in speed to bring her food and water. By the time he had come back the second one had hatched. After he nudged it toward the dragoness, the green dragon lowered his head onto the ground and watched the two babies with big eyes. He was captivated. They were so small, so vulnerable... and so full of promises. He was speechless. He wanted to help Rii as much as he could, he wanted to help her make her offspring happy, but he was frozen in awe. He couldn't do much right now. He had already brought her food and water, and the only thing the babies needed apart from this was love.
Rhune was surprised Baldirak was already asking for the names. Couldn't he see the dragoness also was in awe? That she was in no state to be asked something like this? But he kept his mouth shut. Maybe he was wrong, after all Rii was a strong dragoness. And, most of all, this was a moment no one had the right to spoil.

Re: When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
Baldirak was already moving further into the den when Rii gave him permission to do so. He really just wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible to tend to other things. So he was visbly annoyed when Rii mentioned she didn't have any names in mind. But then he saw the little Hatchling. At the sight of the newborn, the King's mood changed; no longer did he feel bitter toward every member of his Tribe for something they hadn't done. While he would no doubt return to this once he left, at the moment his fatherly instinct controlled him.
Baldirak lowered his head to sniff at the tiny Hatchling. He looked around then den as if he expected to find something he needed. Apparently not finding it, he suddenly left the den. He returned a minute later with two hot rocks. With his tail, he carefully lifted the Hatchling just a few inches off the ground; he made a hole were the Hatchling had been and placed the two rocks in it before covering it over. But he didn't lower the Hatchling immediately, instead he placed a paw there. Deciding the ground was too warm, he pushed the rocks a little further down in the ground. Satisfied now, he returned the Hatchling.
The King noticed then that another egg had a crack at the top of it, but it was still. Again his head lowered and he sniffed at the egg. Just taking your time, Young One? he thought before gazing at the third egg, which hadn't moved at all. Not quite ready, are you? Perfectly fine. Baldirak looked down at the Hatchling once more before his gaze was drawn to the small skull he knew was watching. He couldn't quite tell what little Mairii was thinking. Removing a scroll from under his wing, the King wrote down the day and a note mentioning the egg hatching. His pale gaze shifted to Rii as he realized she hadn't given a name yet.

AuSurath was quietly watching what was going on, more scared of all the noises, and the decorations that Rii laid on were breaking, with little dragons coming out of them! It was scary and weird! He just kept himself tucked into Rii's fur, probably too small for her to notice as he just watched with wide eyes, his skin having turned blue to match her fur. If someone did look, they would be able to see his outline in her fur, and the lack of fur itself on him, with bright yellow eyes sticking out and staring.

Re: When the noon sun sighs -EW's and AuSurath only-
The little child was so comfortable just sleeping in her curled up position. It stayed like this for a very long time. She dreamed of fantastic colorful images that did not look like anything from earth. She dreamed of the stars, of space, and the ever living shadows of darkness. Of course Prasi wasn't actually aware of anything that she was dreaming. Nor did she remember any of it. Not until the last few weeks of incubation. Only then did she start to become aware of things. Things like her mothers voice, Au's voice, the cold of the egg shell around her and the darkness of her prison. The little hatchling also felt her legs and body twitch every once in a while. The pressure of the egg binding her body and limbs in a way that made them hurt.
She was awake now, and aware of the voices of others nearby. The pressure on her body hurt, and was very annoying, but because she was just waking up from a long nap Prasi didn't much feel like moving. She simply listened to the noises outside. The familiar voices are the ones she keyed in on, and for the first time ever she felt like she wanted to make noise! Despite being locked in an egg Prasi was able to chirp a few times as she wiggled. The egg rocked a bit as she did so, but no cracks formed as a result of her movements.

Rii bent over the babies feeling a small body press against her chest and belly beneath her. Au seemed to be hiding now, changing colors as he sometimes did. The other male hatchling was still crawling around. Rii dipped her head down to nuzzle Khu while trying to think of names. She worked with her own name first twisting around the letters and sounds while adding other sounds.
Riisa... Nah that's more of a girls.. Risavaka.. Skulblaka..Kul..Kulrii..Kusa..hmmm.. Kusav.. That sounds better.. Little Khusav. Maybe.. Khusavrii? Khusavir? Oh that sounds like a lords name. Strong but noble.. The great Khusavir. Brilliant! Rii hummed contentedly before looking up at Baldi who was looking between his pen, paper, and the baby.
I'll name him Khusav- She stopped as a loud squeak erupted from the third egg. It then began to rock tipping onto its side causing Rii to right it again. More squeaks followed as she chuckled. Already interrupting mommy huh? She purred at the wiggling egg. Then looked back up to her king once more.
This little boy I'm naming Khusavir. I don't know about the others yet. Rii answered wondering if he was used to seeing hatchlings hatching before his eyes.

Rhune was still watching what was happening in awe. The green dragon had lowered his head up to the ground, watching the hatchlings that emerged with a look of admiration. Right now, Rhune was looking like he was watching the most beautiful thing in the world. In a sense, to him, it was the case.
He listened as Rii suggested a name for the son that already hatched. Khusavir. That sounded nice indeed, but it wasn't like he knew much regarding to names.
"Khusavir... Hello there, little one." he smiled as he tilted his head, examining the small defenseless dragon.

(Sorry for the late reply ;-; )
Khu noticed slight tremors on the ground, something was was unlike what was inside the egg. He wanted to go back to the heat that had nuzzled him a few seconds earlier, but this trembling was too interesting. He could hear the words going on, but had no clue what they meant at this age.
He slowly made his way over to the trembles, trying to find what was making it. Soon enough he found himself bumping into something hard but smooth. It was also warm and seemed to be moving. What was it? Curious, he let out a little chirp, trying to get closer to it than he already was. It almost felt similar in a way, maybe he could break it like he did a fre moments ago?

O.o
Prasi chirped again as another somewhat familiar noise sounded right outside of her confinement. Then all of the sudden she was tipped over as Khu pushed on her egg from the outside. The baby squeaked in surprise before pressing herself against the top of her egg shell to escape or balance herself. Of course this was impossible, but it did do something else. While the egg wiggled on the ground on its side Prasi little horns popped a few cracks into the shell. Light filtered in hurting her eyes, and for a short while the girl was silent just adjusting to the new light conditions. Then Rii nuzzled the egg with a purr coaxing the little girl to move some more. She did, wanting to get closer to that voice and annoyed with the small space that held her. Prasi's head bumped against the weakened top of the shell making a loud crack sound as it fell away. Her neck uncoiled and lay limply against the edge of the shell and the ground scattered with egg pieces. She wasn't used to have her head and neck free, but her torso and lower body were still held captive by the egg. For a long while after this though the child simply adjusted to the light again and gasped breathing in and out for the first time.

((OOC: In order to keep this thread moving or at least somewhat fade it (you can still post after this if you want to) I will PP Umbra hatching since he has not posted since he was accepted making his app))
IC: Rii watched her young ones in wonder and delight. The remaining egg had opened up and all three hatchlings were getting used to the brightness of the new world around them. Deep in her heart she feared, and hoped for their safety and happiness in the world.
((POSSIBLE FADE))
