First Flight (Open EW)

Rhune was highly nervous. He was breathing a bit fast, his heart was pounding in his chest, and he was mostly circling around to keep his paws busy. And how couldn't he be? He was at the very moment he had been waiting for so long! He was going to fly!
The green dragon was waiting to be given the order to jump. He was at the highest point in Haven, and the marketplace was right under. This was the perfect place for a flight, since it was the biggest room in the Haven. An audience had gathered behind to see his performance, and it was making him highly nervous.
"Is Rhune nervous? Just breathe a bit, and Rhune will feel calmer. This is a big day for Rhune!" Nara chirped.
The healer was fluttering around him, her usual smile on the face. Nara had been supervising the efforts to train the green dragon, and this bore its fruits as Rhune was about to take his first flight.
"Yes, I'm nervous, Nara. You're sure I can?" he wondered.
Rhune's speech had drastically improved, and he now could make small sentences without pausing in the middle of it. Longer ones were still a problem, but it was nonetheless a great progress.
Nara just giggled and landed on Rhune's head.
"Of course Rhune can, silly! Nara wouldn't have made this event if Rhune wasn't ready!" she chuckled.
Rhune smiled, getting reassured by the healers words. He looked around him, trying to see there were dragons he knew among them. He mainly expected Rii, Baldirak and Villas to be there, and he really hoped he would be able to spot them.

The Earth King sat beside his nephew, and both sat just inside one of the tunnels leading into the Main Chamber. Both were excited for this day and glad to see Rhune had come so far since the day he arrived to the Haven. Baldirak waited for everyone to arrive before he gave Rhune the okay to start. He looked around, counting everyone; there were a few who hadn't arrived yet. Although, there were some he didn't expect to see, as they didn't usually attend gatherings that had nothing to do with their ranks. Vilkas looked up at Rhune and waved. He had been helping Nara with Rhune's training the past few weeks. He considered the smaller EarthWing to be his friend, even if they didn't talk much. He hoped Rhune would be successful today so he could finally start to focus on other aspects of his life.

Rii slipped into the crowd that had gathered for Rhune's first flight. Despite his shy demeanor around new dragons, the male had made a mark on those who had cared to watch his progress. Rii had been there fro the beginning, though the last few months she had been distracted from his recovery with her nest. Luckily Nara took over keeping an eye on Rhune for her.

The bluish dragon spots Vilkas and Baldirak nearby then silently weaves her way through the crowd towards them. Settling beside Vilkas and looking up at Rhune Rii flicked her wing up to wave at him then grinned excitedly. Flying will be easy with all of the work we've put him through. Landind will be the hard part though. She chuckled almost evilly but in good nature as Rii looked up at the smaller green dragon and his worn down flattened horns.

Rhune continued to walk in circles, his nervousness remaining. So close, so painfully close ! He wanted to just throw himself off that cliff and fly, but he had to wait for approval first ! The green dragon scanned the crowd of dragons with a quick look, smiling as he spotted both Rii and Vilkas. Rhune was feeling eternally thankful to those two for all the efforts they made for him, and he wondered how he would ever be able to repay them. Maybe making this first flight would be a first step. He eagerly waited for Baldirak to give the signal, heart pounding in his chest.

Baldirak watched as the small EarthWing paced about, his eagerness to fly quite palpable. Everyone who wanted had gathered, so there was no reason to wait anymore. The King stamped the ground with a forepaw three times, "You may begin, Rhune."
