Live notifications

Im not sure if this is actually available here but i was thinking of a live notification system to add on to phpBB (this websites backend) to notify of chat messages to peoples browsers as well as new reply's/posts subscribed too etc. etc.

An example might be if someone has facebook and is using google chrome. you can set to get notifications from facebook when your browsing on other pages.

other suggestions might be;

promote this page though a Facebook page/social media
add a more dynamic way for changes/posts to be posted (remove some of the need for page reloads when sending/posting etc.

is my constructive suggestions to the page and suggestions for the future. i cant help it. im a techie!

I don't know if that is possible, but you can get notifications sent to your email whenever someone posts to a topic you have made/subscribed to.

Hi Draco,

I found out some more details from another post. My assumption was this site was hosted on a server with SQL etc etc etc. In short it wont work! (Oops!)

Yeah indeed like I mentioned for your other suggestion we don't have a lot of control on what happens behind the scenes. If we had some I would have changed the mobile site since a long time ><

There is no way to backup/export the site and move to another hosting company though? I would imagine it be easy to export some things... Posts etc etc. proably be pretty expensive though...

To be quite honest this is not really our top priority now. Maybe later it could be an idea to consider.
