First topic message reminder :

I'm sick of being tossed around by storms....
Snowscale painfully got up, his left foreleg bent at an odd angle. He snarled quietly to himself and promptly fell down a hole into a large, spacious cavern.
"Oh fantastic..." he muttered under his breath, fully aware that he was dead meat if a monster found him.
He wandered for a few moments, keeping his injured forearm close to his body. After a moment he could take the pain no longer, and fell to the ground with a roar of dismay.

She looked at Snowscale, overjoyed to see him. She quickly pointed back into the corridor. "He's in there, but his vision won't be any good. Who is he?" Des was honestly still a bit shocked by all of this, but she wanted to know who had attacked her.

"Only one dragon could have found me.
Firebrand." Snowscale said grimly.
He raced down the corridor towards his enemy, intent on blood.
He spotted the Nightwing quickly. With a roar of fury, Snowscale threw himself at his enemy.
Suddenly he found himself pinned. Firebrand smiled down at him. "There you are. Miss me?"

Destella followed, though she kept her distance. She watched as Snowscale jumped for the other dragon, Firebrand. But then the Nightwing pinned the white dragon. The serpent thought for a moment as she came out and fired her light breath on him, hoping that it could help Snowscale.

Snowscale had about two seconds before Firebrand could rip out his throat. But when he was hit in the eyes by a bolt of light, he had something more like ten minutes. He unleashed his own breath weapon, a powerful gust of wind. Firebrand went sprawling back, and Snowscale darted over to Destella's side.
"We need to get out of here. NOW."
He led her to the entrance they had just come in. Snowscale shot out, and soon found himself at the exit.
What have I done???? Now Firebrand will hunt Destella down, like me. I have put her where I put Starshine....
Snowscale started to panic, until finally he screamed and fell unconscious.

Destella was quick to follow Snowscale as they both flew for the exit. He had already told her what Firebrand did, and she was frightened by the fact he here. But then The white drake began to panic.

Before Des could try to help him, Snowscale yelled and passed out. The serpent hurried to his side, trying her best to wake him up. "Snowscale! Snowscale! Come on, get up!"

((Okay, again, I'm going to Firebrand's POV, but I'll also go to Snowscale's))
Firebrand snarled at the whiteness that was now his vision. He shook his head repeatedly, and eventually it cleared.
Curse that Lightwing! I'll have her head on my wall!
But he had to be patient. Recklessness would get him nowhere. So he took out his latest piece of jewelry he had obtained: an illusion stone.
Firebrand smiled and concentrated.

Snowscale got up slowly. He moved, but his eyes belied no sentience. Instead they glowed a strange silver. Words came out of his mouth like thorns:
"Where can you run? Where to hide?
In only the skull can you confide. Let the teeth draw blood, let the blood touch the teeth. And then you will no longer feel despair."
And there the white drake stood, as his eyes lost their glow and returned to normal.

Destella look a Snowscale, worried by what was happening to him. What was he say? What did it mean? Des gave the dragon she loved a scared look before speaking. "Wha-what just happened? What did all those words mean?"

"What words? Was I saying something?" Snowscale shook himself, as if casting aside a bad dream. "I think I just blacked out.
So I guess I might have said something... what was I saying?"

Destella gave Snowscale a shocked look, but quickly answered. "Where can you run? Where to hide? In only the skull can you confide. Let the teeth draw blood, let the blood touch the teeth. And then you will no longer feel despair." She looked back, making sure Firebrand hadn't followed them yet. She the looked back at Snowscale."Is that skull a normal dragon skull?"

I said THAT???
Snowscale staggered on his feet as Destella recited an eerie chant Snowscale had heard in his head after touching the skull. Snowscale had felt weird afterwards, almost as if he was only half awake.
"I'm not sure I could give you an honest answer. It doesn't feel like one when you touch it, and it doesn't look like any kind of dragon I know of."

Snowscale glanced over his shoulder towards his cave. He sighed, sad that he had to leave yet another home behind.
"Your call. I wouldn't know a place that Firebrand wouldn't guess I had gone."
Snowscale drew his wings over himself, feeling defeated. Firebrand had found him AGAIN, and now he had made Destella his enemy.
Why do I always end up drawing other dragons into my problems?

Des noticed how worried Snowscale seemed, so she slid close and nuzzled him. "We can go back to the cavern, or my den." She then thought for a moment, thinking up an idea. "And I may have a way to keep him from following our sent."

Destella looked back at entrance to Snowscale's den before looking back at the dragon, turning her feathers snow white as she did. "I'll tell you when we get start flying." She really wanted to tell him, but the serpent hadn't noticed Firebrand the last time, and she didn't want to take a chance.

She then remembered it would be for naught if they were followed. "Do you know any paths we could use to confuse him?"

Snowscale thought for a moment. "We could take a canyon pass I know of.... it's dangerous, but the only way that we could go to confuse any pursuit."
Snowscale wasn't entirely sure if he was leading Destella to her death. But it was the only way he knew of besides the Stone Tooth Pass.
And that GUARANTEED death.
So Snowscale decided to take the chance.

Destella just nodded, flashing a small smile to Snowscale. "Ok. Well, lead the way." She then gave him a quick nuzzle before they took off.

Snowscale banked around his former home, shooting a glance at the hung dragon's skull on his way by. He led Destella towards a very foreboding looking before abruptly landing on a rock outcrop below. When he landed he beckoned Destella to land next to him.

Destella had to admit, she was a bit scared of the pass Snowscale had just lead them to. She trusted the drake, but instincts were hard to fight. Then the white dragon landed quickly, and wanted her to land next to him. She quickly land, and began to talk to Snowscale with a gentle voice. "What is it, Snowscale? Is something wrong?"

Snowscale shifted nervously. "This pass is very dangerous. I only know of one dragon who made it through here alive, and he ended up losing his wings.
If.... if we don't make it.... I just wanted you to know I've enjoyed every second with you. And... And I'm sorry that I even dragged you into this mess...
Snowscale leaned against Destella and twinned his tail with hers.

Des was surprised by what Snowscale told her, but they didn't have many choices. The he told her what he felt. That he enjoyed all their time together, and that he was sorry to get her into this. Then he wrapped his tail around hers and lean against her.

The dragoness just smiled worriedly before she tightened the grip of her tail, and leaned into the drake. She then responded in a loving tone. "I've love all the time we've spent together too. You're the only dragon I've really loved, and I want you to know I wouldn't change anything." Destella then slowly nuzzled the dragon.

Snowscale smiled. "Into the unknown...
May Lupus grant us safe passage."
Reluctantly Snowscale entwined his tail from Destella's and straightened up. He set his eyes onto the horizon.
It's now or never.
He spread his wings and took off.

Destella didn't want to let go of Snowscale, but she knew they had to run. Once the white drake had taken off, the serpent followed him, being sure not to lose him. Well, it's this or Firebrand. Let's hope someone's watching over us.

Snowscale glided toward the canyon slowly. Already he scented another reptile. He took a deep breath.
You're the fastest thing in these skies... you won't be caught.
But what about Destella?
He didn't know much about fighting. All he knew was he would protect Destella at all costs.
He spotted a huge reptile now. It's face was all mouth, a gaping maw filled with razor-sharp teeth. It was the color of dried blood, and it made a disgusting grunty noise. It suddenly scrambled into a hole and vanished with a squeak.
Snowscale noticed that the ground seemed to be vibrating.
Uh oh.

Destella followed Snowscale carefully, being sure that she would crash, but then she smelt something. She flicked her tongue, then spied the odd creature. The best way she could describe it's look terrifying and ugly.

Then it ran off, and the ground began to shake. Destella was getting worried. The ground didn't normally shake. She the yelled ahead to Snowscale. "What's making the ground shake?"
