Snow and Romance and... danger (Destella)

First topic message reminder :

I'm sick of being tossed around by storms....
Snowscale painfully got up, his left foreleg bent at an odd angle. He snarled quietly to himself and promptly fell down a hole into a large, spacious cavern.
"Oh fantastic..." he muttered under his breath, fully aware that he was dead meat if a monster found him.
He wandered for a few moments, keeping his injured forearm close to his body. After a moment he could take the pain no longer, and fell to the ground with a roar of dismay.

Destella smiled at Crescylla as she giggles, giving the hatchling a slight nuzzle. She hadn’t heard the thought like Snowscale did. For all she knew everything was as normal as it got around the Vilidin, though Delia seemed worried about Twilight.

Then she heard Rayg and Shade’s conversation. She then shielded Crescylla as Shade went flying, her feathers going pale with fear. She then looked over at at Shade, giving him a concerned look. Then he said Rayg was leaving.

She began to think to herself after hearing this. ”Is he leaving because of last night? Because of what I said?”

"Shade, are you sure?" Twilight demanded, looking interested. Snowscale caught a quick impression in his eyes of an eerie blue flame, but quickly dismissed this as unimportant.
Shade nodded. "He feels he is doing more harm than good. We have to go after him."
To Snowscale's surprise, Twilight shook his head. "Shade, he runs as fast as lightning. There's no way we could catch him."
Snowscale took a deep breath. "I might be able to."

Destella just bowed her head a bit before looking at Crescylla, thinking she may be hungry. The serpent then heard her mate say he could stop Rayg. She nervously looked at the Snowscale before speaking. "Y-you can."

Snowscale hoped he could. Fast as lightning seemed a bit overdramatic.... and Snowscale had an advantage, being in the air. "Okay. Be back soon." He took to the air, shooting off like an arrow.
Crescylla meeped and tried to waddle after him, but Shade gently picked her up and tickled her. She giggled, peeping for more. Shade paused, and she waited expectantly, and squealed with joy when she received more tickles.

Destella worried as Snowscale left, just thinking ”Be careful” out to her mate. The dragoness then smiled as the hatchling laughed at being tickled. Something then crossed her mind. The little Crescylla hadn’t eaten anything yet. She lowered her head down to the hatchling, still smiling. ”I bet you’re getting hungry, aren’t you?”

Crescylla meeped and looked up questioningly at the larger dragon. She grabbed Destella's mouth playfully and climbed up on her, but her stomach rumbling was quite audible.
Shade was staring out at where Snowscale had gone when he heard her stomach. He turned around and smiled. "Hey, Ronin, I think she's hungry. Care to go with Jeffry for some fish?"
Ronin nodded, relaxing. "Yeah. Don't be offended if he eats a few though."
Shade laughed. "Okay."
The halfling left.

Snowscale was hard on Rayg's heels. For some reason he seemed to be heading back to the cave.
Suddenly a zap reached the drake's ears, and his muscles went rigid and refused to work. He hit the ground with a thud and cried out, unable to move now.
"I'm sorry Snowscale. But it is time for me to walk my own path."

Destella smiled as she looked up at the hatchling, hearing the little one’s stomach growl. The serpent rubbed the top of Crescylla’s head with her tail before saying ”You’re definitely hungry.”

The feather covered dragon then followed Ronin down to the lake, and made sure Crescylla was with them. Once they entered the room the lake was in, Destella made sure the little dragoness that had basically become her daughter was off her head. She then reared up and opened her maw, a pair of fangs unfolding as she did.

The moment a fish came close enough, she lunged at the prey. Her head soon came up, dripping water. She then dropped the fish next to Crescylla, nudging the food towards the hatchling.

Crescylla hungrily tore into the fish after a moment's hesitation. She finished quickly and received a part of one of Jeffry's catches. Full, she meeped drowsily and climbed up onto Jeffry's feathered back, curling up for a nap.

Rayg was at this point somewhere where he would not be found by a dragon. The only one who can find me now is Ronin.... and he wouldn't turn me in.
Would he?

Destella smiled as the little dragoness ate her fish, and soon caught some for herself. After eating some, she watched Crescylla climb onto the odd creature known as Jeffrey and fall asleep. The older dragoness simply slid over, giving the hatchling a light nuzzle. ”I should probably see about making a nest for her.”

Shade chuckled. "You might be able to pluck the owlbear to make one." Jeffry shot a glare at him.
Ronin made a very interesting look at the entrance. "Shade, do you.....?"
Shade's eyes lit in surprise. "Yes,
I feel it..."
Jeffry nodded, looking at Destella, his oddly intelligent black eyes seeming to carry a message in them.
"Wait here," Ronin said before dashing out.

Destella chuckled as she gently lifted Crescylla from Jeffry, placing the little gem-like hatchling in a few coils of her serpent-like body. She decided to go find some materials for a nest after Snowscale got back, but was soon surprised by what the others were saying. She gave them a concerned look before speaking. ”W-what’s wrong?”

Shade frowned. "Snowscale is near,
but Rayg isn't with him.... I can't place it, but things seem amiss."
Ronin came back, saying nothing but. "Quick, Jeffry, go get Twilight and meet me out of the cave." He glanced at Shade, the stone around his throat glowing for a moment, before running back where he had come from.
Shade looked at Destella. "How about we build that nest for Crescylla?"

Des listen to the conversation, though she kept quiet. The feathered serpent wondered what the others were planning, and what would happen to Rayg if they succeed. All these thoughts buzzed around her head until Shade’s suggestion brought her back to the real world.

Destella looked at the little bundle she held before smiling back at Shade. ”That sounds like a good idea. Let’s go find somewhere for her, then get the nest built.” The serpent then remembered that she still had her stone, and decided to focus on Snowscale for a moment. ”There may be a surprise for you to see when you get back”

There was no response, but Shade was already moving on before Destella could investigate. "There should be some moss around somewhere....."
He looked around for a moment and wandered off, and took a while getting back with some moss.
Now to find somewhere for her....
"How about the sleeping chambers?" Shade suggested.

Destella rolled her eyes at Shade’s lack of attention, but at least he seemed interesting. She helped collect some moss before before he suggested finding a good cavern for a sleeping chamber.

She slid back to the main cavern before going down one of the halls. She had remembered seeing a small side cave that was the perfect size for a hatchling. After she slithered into small cave, the serpent began to form a nest from the moss.

Shade quickly followed, but he seemed as if he was trying to figure something out. His stone was glowing, and after a moment Destella's lit up too.
And then a voice very, very familiar to Shade entered there minds: Behind you, my apprentice.
MIDNIGHT??

Snowscale grunted as Jeffrey helped him up. He was okay, now that Twilight had used some strange blue orbs to sap the magic out of him. "What sort of power even is that?" he asked the white wolf, but he wasn't paying attention. His stone was glowing, and so was Snowscale's.
Hello, Snowscale. I've looked forwards to meeting you.

Destella finally had something that looked like a nest, but noticed that Shade seemed to be somewhere else. The serpent slowly lifted Crescylla from her coils, and placed her into the new nest. She gave the hatchling a light nuzzle before hearing a voice.

Des turned to see another figure. She didn’t recognize this one, which made her suspicious and worried at the same time. It wasn’t until she heard Shade’s reaction, one that she guess was loud since she heard the thought without trying, the the feathered dragoness calmed down.

A black wolf with a white underbelly stood before the shocked form of Shade. His fur was glossy, but seemed to hold stars in them. His smile was warm enough to melt a glacier, and a bag of medicinal things was slung on his back. "Hello, Destella."

Crescylla woke up and meeped at the new arrival. She yawned and looked at Destella before laying back down, watching with wide eyes.

Snowscale staggered into the cave, his legs like they were made of jelly. He took one look at the new wolf and fainted dead away.

Destella gave the black wolf a confused smile before studdering ”H-he-hello.” She then heard a meep, and looked back to see Crescylla awake and watching them. She rubbed the little hatchling’s head with her tail before hearing something else.

She turned to see Snowscale staggering in. He didn’t look too good, but then it got worse. He passed out, right there. The serpent quickly slid up towards him, and nudged him with her snout. ”Snowscale. Snowscale!”

Snowscale's eyes fluttered, and then he opened them. He saw the black and white wolf again, and just stared at him.
"I-I know you..." the drake said, hesitantly.
The wolf smiled. "Do you know my name?"
Snowscale frowned. "Are you Midnight?"
The wolf dipped his head. "I am."
Snowscale was suddenly standing before a huge field. Ronin and Jeffry faced an army of what Snowscale guessed were halflings, and then Midnight standing before a glowing black wolf.
He then came back to the present, staggering in disbelief from a new set of knowledge entering his mind. "You died."
Midnight nodded again. "But death cannot keep me down. Not if I must keep you and your mate safe."
"Keep us safe?? But... Why?"
Midnight shook his head. "I do not know. All I know is that you, your mate, and your daughter have a role to play in the Vilidin's story. And something must be done to see that you fulfill your roles, whatever they may be. Stay strong Snowscale; I will be here again when you need me most." With that, the wolf disappeared, leaving behind nothing.

Destella smiled as Snowscale woke back up, but she just got confused as the conversation kept going. Why did this Midnight guy have to keep them safe. She twined her tail with her mate’s as she continued to listen. But then the the wolf said he was going.

”Wait! Why are we....” Then he was gone. Des just looked at her mate, still confused about what was going on. ”Do you understand what’s going on?”

Snowscale smiled a bit and then shook his head. "Not really, nor do I really care. All I want is to live my life in the best way possible for us."
He nuzzled his mate, then noticed the Vilidin gathering near the entrance of his den. "Where are you guys going?"
Twilight shook his head. "The less you know, the better. We must leave, and quickly. If you ever need us, use the stones. Something has.... Come up, if you must know." The wolves quickly left, offering no further explanation, leaving Destella and Snowscale alone with Crescylla.

Des nuzzled her mate back before watching the Vilidin leave, again without many answers. Were all Vilidin this secretive? Either way, at least they had the stones, just in case.

The serpent then looked at Snowscale, then leaned against him. ”Well, whatever happens, we have each other. Even if the Vilidin have their secrets.”

Snowscale smiled and nodded. "Whatever it is they do, I'm sure it's something I've never done before."
Crescylla meeped, and then burrowed into the middle of the two dragons. She cuddled against them, then reached up with grabby little paws, hoping to be picked up.

Destella smiled, then began to chuckle as Crescylla dug between her and Snowscale. The hatchling then wanted to be picked up. Des careful wrapped the little dragon with her tail, and lifted her. She then nuzzled the hatchling.
