First topic message reminder :

I'm sick of being tossed around by storms....
Snowscale painfully got up, his left foreleg bent at an odd angle. He snarled quietly to himself and promptly fell down a hole into a large, spacious cavern.
"Oh fantastic..." he muttered under his breath, fully aware that he was dead meat if a monster found him.
He wandered for a few moments, keeping his injured forearm close to his body. After a moment he could take the pain no longer, and fell to the ground with a roar of dismay.

Once Des felt Snowscale's wing wrap around her, the dragoness slide her body up against his. She smiled as the drake reassured her, though she was surprised that he would have been looking for death. Then he mentioned the sense he had: "That there was still something worth living for."

The feathered dragoness gave him a loving nuzzle before speaking. "Thank you. I really needed to hear that." As Destella said this, she once again wrapped her tail around Snowscale's, and gently leaned up to him.

Snowscale smiled."I think, for the first time in my life since Firebrand, that I am feeling what Jade always said I'd find."
He sighed softly and started humming a melody to Destella.

Destella looked at Snowscale after he said how he was feeling. What he said made her red and blue feathers go yellow before she spoke. "I think I know the feeling she's talking about. It's the first time I've felt it, and I never want to lose it."

Then the white drake began to hum a tune. It was lovely, and made the dragoness think of some of the best times of her life. Des soon closed her amber eyes, and began to join Snowscale in humming, once she figured out the tune of course.

This moment was so similar to one he had experienced ten years ago in the Night Kingdom. He and Starshine were in a small forest frolicking and eating sugarberries. Towards the end of their little adventure, the two had watched.the sun set together.

Snowscale almost wanted to cry at the memory. Now, knowing that the threat of death hung over all those near him, fear sent ripples through his feathery scales. He could get Destella killed, and like the coward he is he would just stand and watch, frozen in fear.
What have I done....?

The feathered serpent was quick to notice something was wrong with Snowscale, but she didn't quite know what. The dragoness opened her eyes and looked at the drake, hoping that her thoughts were wrong. "Snowscale? Are you... ok?"

Snowscale snapped back to reality. "Y-yeah, I-I'm fine."
He sort drew back into himself, curling his wings over his shoulders and lowering his head.
What if Firebrand comes and kills her? What if I at last go insane then and go to the Dim World?
The fear of uncertainty hung over the Skywing's head like a dark cloud.

Well, it was clear to Destella the "nothing" the drake next to her referred to was actually something. The dragoness wasn't quite sure what it was, but she guessed it had something to do with his past. The serpent gave Snowscale a serious, yet caring, look. "Whatever it is, you don't have to face it alone, Snowscale."

Snowscale wasn't entirely sure what to say to that. What, "I've dealt with it by myself for ten years?"
"Face it hatchling. You will never be able to save those you love. Why? Because you are a coward. You are weak. You are USELESS." Firebrand had said.
Snowscale wanted to scream at Destella to get as far away from him as she could, for her own sake. Snowscale knew if he had another event like Starshine's death, it would leave him a hollow shell. He wanted to cry, but not tears came. He wanted her to stay, desperately. He felt as if he was being torn apart.

For all of his talk of coping, Snowscale could say nothing.

Destella just looked at her love, noticing the fear in his eyes. She was sure what was on his mind now, at least if he had told her everything that had happened. The dragoness could understand why he would be so fearful. She decided to not say anything. Instead, Des wrapped her wing around Snowscale, and slightly tightened her tails grip on his.

"Thanks... I know I seem a bit distant, but I'm bad luck and I know it. So far everyone who has stayed around me had vanished or died right in front of me. If....If you were next.... I don't know what I would do...." He shut his eyes tight to prevent the tears from welling.
The last thing Starshine had ever said to him came like a wraith lusting for his soul: Help me.

What were red feathers on the dragoness shifted to blue. It was what she was thinking, somewhat. He was worried that what happened to the others would happen to her. The Lightwing could understand why. If she had seen what he did, who knows how she would have come out of it.

But right now, the dragoness was focused on Snowscale. He looked like he could start crying at any moment. Destella nuzzles the drake, speaking softly as she did. "Snowscale.... I don't think you're bad luck. You're the first dragon I'be been comfortable with being around that wasn't family. I know what happened must have been hard, I can't even imagine what it was like, but I'm sure you've grown since then. I don't think you ever let it happen again."

Snowscale looked at his scrawny frame, but he said nothing as far as his abilities. "Well, thanks. That makes me feel a bit better."
He leaned into Destella, feeling both relieved and the worried. He could almost feel the impending doom.

Destella smiled and leaned against Snowscale affectionately, giving him an "I love you" look as she did. The serpent thought about how her and the white dragon would deal with some issues, from mundane to things that affected them, but she push it to the back of her mind, deciding to keep her mind in the present.

Destella looked over at Snowscale, smiling as she thought about the question. Where did she want to go? Even though flying sounded nice, when the drake mentioned finding his den she got curious. "You don't know where your den is? I guess that storm got your barring messed up."

"Yeah, it kinda messed my sense of direction up. Which happens when huge when have you flipping all over the place. Makes a drake dizzy too."
Snowscale chuckled a bit. "All I know is that it is close enough to the Skywing border that I'm away from patrols and cities."

Destella thought for a moment, trying to figure put what to do. Then she remembered something in she had that could help. "I have a map back in my den. We can use it to figure out how far your's is from here."

"A map would be helpful. I'm not entirely sure how accurately I could read it though." Snowscale dimly remembered the last time he used a map, back when he was only with Falcon and Jade. Falcon was trying to help, but Snowscale was more interested in wearing the map like a hat.
He smiled at the memory.

Des smiled, but began to get nervous about the idea of Snowscale seeing her den. It wasn't that it was a bad place. It was just a bit bland. But the dragoness only thought about it for a second before deciding he wouldn't care how the small den looked. "Don't worry. I can teach you if you need me to."

The serpent then unwrapped her tail, which she admittedly didn't want to do, from the dragon she loved and slid forward a bit."Follow me." The dragoness then took to the air and stopped, waiting for Snowscale to follow.

Fast as thinking Snowscale took to the air after Destella. "Where are we going? Or rather, WHICH way are we going?"

Destella point her tail to the west; towards some taller trees. "It's not too far that way."

As the feathered serpent led the pair, one fact about her den came to mind. One that had kept her safe more than once since the monsters showed up. "I may need to mention that the entrance to my den is low. You'll have to duck to get in."

"Me? Perhaps one of the shortest dragons? How dare you make a size joke," Snowscale teased. "Thanks for telling me, though."
As Snowscale followed after the dragoness, his thoughts turned dark again, as they usually did. What if she´s the next one I get killed? How would I live with myself?
Snowscale quickly shook those thoughts off before they could take hold.

He was on the way to being on the way towards his home!

The serpentine dragoness chuckled at Snowscale's comment. She loved tha fact that she made the drake happy. Des knew he had a rough life, so just getting a laugh and smile out of him, to help him stop worrying for a moment, was something she quickly started to like.

After a few more minutes, Destella spyed the location of her den. She looked back at Snowscale, and pointed with her tail. "It's down there. Come on." She then landed near a small cave opening.

It was clear why she said her white scaled love may need to duck. It was hardly tail enough for her to not duck. Once Snowscale landed, Des motioned for him to follow her through the entrance. She then let out a light hearted comment. "Watch your head."

"I can barely reach this with my tail and you tell me to watch my head? What if I told you to duck under a fifty-foot tall tree?" Snowscale quipped, walking under the entrance like it was a normal size. "Dragons these days... telling each other things that more or less insult their size."
His voice was humorous, and he was grinning ear to ear as he said this.

((Umm.... Snowscale, Destella usually "stands" and 22ft. She can rear up to like a cobra to 55ft, but doesn't stay like that.))
